What could €100 a month turn into?
Move the sliders and see what time, monthly payments and fund costs do. It’s a hypothetical example, not a forecast, and if you enter a bad market, the result goes down too.
More settings Starting amount, fund costs, inflation and yearly increases
With these assumptions you’d end up with less than you paid in. The grey area in the chart shows the loss. That can happen, which is why it’s worth trying a few scenarios.
For educational purposes only. Results are estimates based on the assumptions shown. They are not financial, investment or tax advice. Actual outcomes may differ, and investments can lose value.
- Because less money was paid in
- €0
- Because that money had less time to grow
- €0
A hypothetical comparison, not a forecast. If returns are negative, waiting can end with more. Not financial advice.
How it is calculated
Both plans end on the same date and use the same return. The later plan simply has fewer months of payments. The catch-up amount is solved exactly: the end value grows in a straight line with the monthly amount, so it is the target minus what the plan reaches without payments, divided by what €1 a month would reach.
