Inflation & Purchasing Power
€100 today won’t buy the same things in 20 years. How much less?
Prices tend to rise over time, so the same euros buy less. Pick an amount, an inflation rate and a number of years, and see what that does.

How it is calculated
Future cost = amount × (1 + inflation)years. Today’s value of a future amount = amount ÷ (1 + inflation)years. To turn a nominal return into a real one: (1 + return) ÷ (1 + inflation) − 1.
